Randy Bridges knows his neighbors in Centennial Hills always want to know what's
going on in their community. That's why he started AnnRd.com, an online business
and service directory, in 2006, and it's why his business is partnering with Las
Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross and the Santa Fe Station to hold the Centennial
Hills Update 2008 and Community Expo on Feb. 19 at the northwest hotel and
casino.Local residents and business owners are invited to attend the free
event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the new conference center on the north side of
the Santa Fe Station.
In addition to dozens of local businesses setting up booths and informing
residents about their services, Ross is scheduled to address attendees regarding
current projects developing in the area.
"Everyone likes to know what's coming up in their neighborhood," said
Bridges, who works in real estate and has lived in northwest Las Vegas for about
15 years. "Councilman Ross came to our first mixer last February, and it was so
informative. We got a lot of praise for that. He's a really down-to-earth guy
and very straightforward about keeping people informed."
It was Bridges' own desire to learn more about his neighborhood that lead to
the creation of the Web site.
"I had my own need to avoid going all over town for the products and services
I needed every day," he said. "There was no directory for the services in the
Centennial Hills area, so I went around collecting business cards from every
place I could think of and that was how it got started, how the site came
together."
In addition to serving as an area business directory, AnnRd.com offers links
to information about schools and traffic and services in other parts of Las
Vegas. There is no charge for a business to join the directory, provided it
offers mutual support for AnnRd.com.
Among the businesses participating in the expo is Sammy's Woodfired Pizza,
7160 N. Durango Drive.
"One reason we decided to get involved was that we met Randy at a Taste of
the Northwest mixer event and we were able to build a nice rapport with him,"
said Carly Ward, Las Vegas regional manager of Sammy's. "He talked about how
this would be a great event for such a new and upcoming community, and one of
the reasons we've been so successful in Las Vegas is because of the community,
and we recognize that, so we take advantage of any opportunity to give back and
let the community see us."
Other participating businesses include Cold Stone Creamery, Colonial Bank,
the hosting Santa Fe Station, Liberty Realty, YMCA of Southern Nevada, Quality
Insurance and Tenaya Village Dental. Door prizes, entertainment and food also
will be part of the event.

A
NOTE FROM COUNCILMAN ROSS
It is amazing to see how fast the northwest is growing
not only in the number of residents, but businesses as well. It is
exciting for me to get to play a part in this growth. I want to
thank Randy Bridges and
Dodgeland USA (under new ownership) for including me in the first
ever Centennial
Hills Business Mixer. More than 30 businesses attended to
share their services and concerns for the northwest. As the
councilman for Ward 6, it is my job to help businesses succeed. I
would encourage other businesses to start participating in
organizations that support the Centennial Hills area. Your input
and comments help me understand the challenges that businesses
face in the northwest
